[ It's early in the morning. And Toph Beifong is late for Luceti School! She woke up late because it was too freaking cold and the blankets were so warm. And when she finally got out of bed, the floor felt like ice to her bare feet and she couldn't get around properly. She pulled on some socks, but that just messed with her "sight" and, one thing led to another... ]

[ That's why, at some point in the morning, there is a little girl earthbending her way across the village and to school, complete with a half-eaten piece of toast hanging from her mouth. Now and then she calls back behind her - ]

Hey! I'll fix it later!

[ Because, well, she's kind of leaving a mess, tearing her way through the earth like that. ]

[ She's true to her word though, because one classes are done for the day, she heads back home the way she came, flattening the earth as she goes. It's tricky business, especially with the snow she has to bend around (plus the fact that these stupid shoes are making it hard to see!), so feel free to bother her! ]

[ Oscar happens upon the earthbending mess as Toph is fixing it up later in the day. He recognizes the girl – how can he forget, with the fierce personality he had glimpsed during the shift?

Although he has no way of knowing how much of it still carries on now, Oscar approaches regardless, watching the girl bend. ]

Where's Fluffles?

[ With the shoes and the snow, it was hard to sense people coming. But Toph never forgets a voice, so she isn't too wary when she recognizes it as that one guy who helped her out, so many months ago.

She shrugs, not bothering to look back while she stomps her foot on the ground, flattening another section of raised earth. ]

Dunno. I think he disappeared with the rest of that bogus mess.

[ Oh, she remembers. Curiously, that means the opposite for Fluffles in terms of what he was expecting, and Oscar tips his head to the side. ]

So he didn't exist before?

[seismicity]

Not that I remember. Anyway, he was one of those weird half-an-animals. He was just a dog! [ She says, kind of incredulously. ]

[welnares]

[ . . . just a dog? ]

What do you mean?

[seismicity]

You know... just a dog. Instead of a polar bear-dog, or a goat-dog? [ Duh. ]

[welnares]

I've never heard of either of those . . . For me, a dog is the most familiar.

[seismicity]

Yeah, it kinda sounds like that's the case for most of everyone around here. [ Toph complains, frowning. ] It's probably the weirdest thing about this place. All the animals are wrong.

[welnares]

[ Well, ] Do you still like them?

[tomodachi]

Whoa! [What the heck how is she doing that--Crow immediately attempts to follow her as quickly as he can so that he can get her attention.]

Hey, wait up a second!!

[seismicity]

[ Hey - it's Crow! Toph actually stops what she's doing, turning head in his general direction. (She's a few degrees off, but hey. There's a lot of snow!) ]

Hey, Crow. Did'ya need something?

[tomodachi]

Yeah, I need to know how you're doing that trick of yours. [Pointing to the ground below her feet that she's been earth-bending with.] I've never seen anyone do something like that before.

[seismicity]

Oh, this? [ Toph slides her foot along the earth, and ends the movement with a stomp. A few raised spikes sink back into the ground, as if they were never there! ] It's earthbending. I do it 'cause I'm an earthbender? [ Obviously, Crow. Duh! ]

[tomodachi]

[Whoa, that is so cool how did she do that...]

What's an "earthbender"?

[Varrick's only been in Luceti for a day and already he's sick of this place. Dressed in thick, fluffy water tribe attire, he's wearing the biggest scowl he can muster just so everyone will know he's in a bad mood. Without Zhu Li to help him style his hair, his locks aren't quite as bouncy as they should be, either.

Even so, his eyes widen a bit when he spots an earthbender late in the afternoon. Well well, and here he thought this place was full of otherworldly non-benders who may or may not be magicians. After a few moments of watching her work, he decides he might as well approach her. The way he sees it, only people from his own world will truly sympathize with his moping.]

Hey little lady. Doing some earthbending, are you?

[Action] - I haven't seen season 2 of Korra yet, so no spoilers please? if at all possible! ;w;

[seismicity]

[ Toph's been hard at work, and tended to pay little attention to strangers trying to engage her in conversation (since all she really wants to do is get back home and out of the snow asap)

but someone new, mentioning earthbending? Toph turns her head in his direction curiously. ]

You know about earthbending?

[Action] - Oh gosh I'm sorry, I didn't know! Don't worry, I'll avoid spoilers.

[Being as self-centered as he is, he doesn't notice there's something off about Toph's eyes. Instead, he smiles widely because, hey, he was right. It is earthbending. It's a small world after all. Or uh... small collection of worlds.]

Sure do! It's the bendingest of all bending forms!

[Iroh meanwhile is doing a bit of firebending to clear the area around the front of the tea shop. It was good to have a nice clear path for people to use for tea. As he sees Toph approaching he calls out]

Running a bit late aren't we Toph?

[ Iroh, you are going to make her late!

Good thing Toph likes Iroh more than she likes school, so she decides, hey, this is as good a time as any to catch her breath. Right? Right. She stops a few meters away. ]

Yeah. I dunno why I'm even rushing - it's not like it'll make me any less late for classes that I barely get into. [ What with being blind, and all. ] Maybe I should just skip school and hang out with you, Iroh.

I think a bit of schooling could be beneficial for you Toph. There is a great deal one could learn. You of course can make your own decision in the matter, but I will be here after school is finished as well.

[Aang at least was able to take notes on whatever Toph had missed. He didn't expect her to be that late - it's as if she stopped to engage in several lengthy conversations with passersby in the process.

Regardless, he comes along afterschool and helps to even out the ground with earthbending. And he whistles while he works.]

[ You work on one side of the path, Aang! Toph's got this other side. Mostly they work in tandem, but eventually Aang's whistling gets on Toph's nerve a bit because she's thrown off by her boots and she the bad start to her morning and it's freezing and augh. WINTER!!! ]

Can you be any more upbeat, Twinkletoes?

[If you insist, Toph. He claps his hands to accompany the whistling.]

[Chili yelps and jumps out of the way of the rapidly flattened mounds, awkwardly clambering onto rooftop by the sound of things.] Hey, hey, hey! Watch it! [His voice sounds half-angry, half-panicked. Okay, maybe two-thirds panicked.] Pan-pan! [The second voice is higher, a bit scratchy. Doesn't exactly sound human!]

[Watching her get to school was surprising enough, watching her start to go home leaves Luke with his mouth hanging open and his books on the ground. He knew she could do stuff like this, but- but it was like surfing with rocks and dirt!]
