If any of you guys have cold remedies that actually work, I'm all ears. Y'know, in case I ever need 'em again. 'Cause there's no way I'm ever gonna suck on another frozen frog, thanks.

[ So, Toph had spent the last week and a half confined to her bed. Well, just to her room. But she was in bed for most of it, because she'd come down with a strange cold that nothing could seem to cure. (Looking for a cure had been an adventure in itself. But that's a story for another time.)

That said, she'd been feeling better these last couple of days, and today she was finally able to harass someone into letting her out of the house (instead of just escaping, anyway.) The weather was starting to get cold, so it wouldn't be long before the days got too chilly for her to spend so much time outside. She was going to take advantage of what time she had left. So, after spending the morning at the barracks making sure her bending hadn't suffered from her cold (it hadn't), she wastes some time at the Avatar House's backyard, lazily raising elaborate, miniature structures and landscapes out of the earth.

And when she needs a minute to rest (because she's still only just recovering!), well, she decides that there was nothing wrong with just lying on the ground. By the end of day, she's totally covered in sand and dust and earth. But who's complaining, right? At least she isn't tracking mud into the house. ]

[Aang still worries about whether Toph is at 100 percent. When she's practicing in the yard, he steps outside with a tray of tea, to offer some to her.]

How are you feeling, Toph? [He'll stop for a moment and look on with a wonder at her creations.]

[ She'd been lying around in the dirt when she first felt Aang's footsteps! But since she knows he insisted on worrying about her, she sits up before he can come close. See? She's okay! Covered in dust, but that's her natural state. ]

[Iroh will be sitting by a fire he made, meditating. As he breathes in and out, the fire rises and falls. From what he had heard of this place, it would be best to maintain a good practice regime to keep the skills sharp. Feel free to come by if you are feeling cold Toph]

[ She is cold! But don't tell anyone, Iroh! They'll think she's still sick, and end up sending her back to bed.

She plops down beside him by the fire soon enough, though. She doesn't bother announcing herself since a) she knows he knows she's there, and b) she didn't want to disturb him while he was meditating. ]

[He mentally acknowledges her presence, and smiles slightly, before allowing that to pass, and return his focus to the flame. To control fire one had to always be aware of its presence and potential to destroy, but also of its warmth and its life sustaining powers. As always during such times, the thought of the great dragons always filled him, their power and control was awe-inspiring.

After a few quiet moments pass, he reopens his eyes and his mind to the world around]

...I'm not sure if I'm amused or horrified that anyone would suck on frozen frogs. Were you after the toxins as an immune boost?

I'm sure there are herbal remedies that are far more effective that can be found, though the method I tend to ascribe to is usually hot baths and eating as much as one can stomach.
