Really? [ Hm. He shrugs. ] How about being out here this late? Are you supposed to do that?

[ Defensively: ] My dad knows about the dance!

[ He just doesn't know she's making the trip back alone. ]

Ah, that's right . . . Tonight's supposed to be some kind of dance.

[ Still. ]

Well, the dance is one thing. Does he know about you being here?

[ She shifts around a bit. ]

... No, but I'm on my way home. So it's okay. [ Sort of! She needs a cab or something. ]

[ Oscar stares long and hard. He wonders if that's okay. ]

How far is your home?

[ In complete contrast, Toph doesn't meet his eyes at all. Not because she's impolite or anything (she is, though that's not the reason.) But if Oscar takes a good look, it should be clear that she can't see.

Anyway, she shrugs. ]

Up by the lake. [ which should be pretty telling. ] I've made the trip before, though. [ Yeah, when the sun was still up. ]

Oh, Toph. You're still young, so like, you don't get it.

[Because big sis has three whole extra years under her belt. So much life experience. She's really doing her best here to be cool and grown up.]

Maybe they're not...bad [yes they are] but I don't want them to be a bad influence! This is an important time in your life, you know?

[ Toph crosses her arms, turning her head to Pilouette's direction with a frown. ]

Yeah, yeah. But if they're not bad, how're they supposed to be a bad influence, huh?

Because certain people are just less educated than we are, Toph, and that makes them make poor decisions.

[Or so she's been told. And who is she to argue, right? She scuttles over and moves to give Toph a sisterly little hug.]

And I couldn't stand it if my little sister got caught up in those bad decisions~!

[ Ehh. No fair pulling the sisterly hug card. Toph's a bit of a sucker for random shows of tactile affection - she couldn't help it. It's not like she could see anything else. So even if she's still kind of miffed, she doesn't shy away. ]

... Well, have you ever spoken to them yourself? They're really not that bad, you know. They're kinda cool.

Of course, I haven't talked to them, Toph! You know I can't handle the, um, rougher parts of town. And I can be cool, too, you know! Maybe you should hang out with your big sister more~!

[ Asami mentioned that, too. That trying to hang out with her sister more would help her get along better with her. So Toph sighs. It was worth a shot. ]

Yeah, when? When you're off shopping for dresses and stuff? [ Homecoming was coming up, after all. ]

[...Hmph.] You just can't appreciate my artistic talents, that's all.

[And even if she wasn't blind, somehow Crow gets the feeling that she'd still find a way to poke fun at it. >:|]

[ Finally, Toph can't help herself. She snickers. ]

Maybe. But if you really do have any artistic talent, why're you putting it on some wall?

Well this way, everyone who passes by here will get a chance to see it. Plus, if I just do it on paper, then it's not as fun or interesting.

[...Also he likes making it difficult for the people who own these buildings, who eventually have to deal with washing the graffiti off.]

Yeah? I guess that makes sense, 'specially if you want everyone to see it. [ Toph also knows it's not legal. But eh. She grins. ]

So, what's it say?

[Huh? Well...] Right now, it just says "fight"...

[He wasn't done yet, but it's probably going to end up being something typical like "fight the establishment", or "fight the power" or "fight the man" because establishment is way too long of a word okay.]

"Fight"... Fight what? [ Toph tilts her head. ] S'there gonna be a fight around here or something? [ Can she come watch? ... "Watch"? ]

Sure thing! Right this way - I'll show you something so cool and fab that it's outta sight! I bet it's even better than a lake.

Toph sighs, and lets it slip for now. ]

Pff, like that's hard. The lake's as boring as you can get. [ This, of course, coming from the girl who can't see, or swim. ]

That's a shame. I hoped that there'd be cool animals there or something. [He keeps leading her and Fluffles along.] But don't worry! I'll take you somewhere neat-o.

Cool animals huh? I don't think there's any of that up there. [Fluffles barks, and Toph grins.] Well, 'cept for Fluffles.

That's right! Fluffles is one of the coolest animals I know! [He gives a pleased smile to the doggy.] The zoo's supposed to have lots of neat animals... but it's kind of scary, too.

The zoo? [ Toph tilts her head. ] Dad brings us there sometimes, but only to look at the pandas... [ She shrugs. For some reason he really likes visiting them. It's kinda weird. ]
